Every month, Macaroni KID Mountain House–Tracy–Manteca highlights a local mom who is making a difference in our community. This month, we’re excited to feature Val and Lailani, the inspiring moms behind WOMOM — a growing wellness community focused on positivity, growth, and connection for women.
From juggling motherhood and business to creating empowering events for local women, these two moms are building something truly special in the Central Valley.
We chatted with Val and Lailani to learn more about their families, their inspiration, and their advice for other moms.
Tell us a little about yourself and your family. (Where you're from, how long you've been in the area, kids' names/ages, fun facts!)
We are Val and Lailani, and we are WOMOM.
I am Val, a mama of two kiddos, a 6 y/o boy Cristiano and a 4 y/o girl Valerie. I was raised in San Jose, CA and moved to Central Valley in 2022. Taking my kids on vacations is my favorite thing to do, having our “cozy” time every night is what I most look forward to at the end of the day. My guilty pleasure is chips and a sparkling drink. I love traveling, girl time, a good concert, matcha and pilates and listening to a self growth podcast. Fun fact: I eat Hawaiian pizza with ketchup.
I am Lailani, a girl mom to Malia (5) and wife to Marcus. I was born and raised in southern California, and met my husband in Hawaii while we were both on vacation. That is what brought me to Central Valley in 2017. My daughter is my bestie, and we do everything together. Sour candy is my gas station treat and sushi is my favorite food! Balloon styling and planning events is my passion. Working out is my therapy! Bootcamp and cycle classes are my faves. Walking outside in nature under the sun is one of my favorite things to do. I love trying new things, activities, and challenges. I grew up doing sports and dance so I enjoy group and team activities! Fun fact: I always have to drive or else i’ll get car sick.

What inspired you to start your business (or get into your field)?
Our inspiration started from creating content on social media for fun as a creative outlet but with the purpose of prioritize our peace, growth and glow regardless of our roles or season in life. We create monthly intentional calendars that gears towards growth and a positive mindset. We quickly realized that our content and calendars were inspiring and fun for others to watch and follow.
As we evolved in social media we felt inspired to share that by hosting wellness community events—an intentional space and time so other could come together in community and find that in an in-person experience.
With such vision many businesses believed in WOMOM and opened their doors for us to share that experience with our community. We also acquired a partnership with Lokahi House—a women’s non profit organization dedicated to creating a safe, supportive and empowering space for women.
What does a typical day look like for you as a mom and business owner?
We are constantly on the go. Between school drop offs, work, family time, gym/workout, and routines we do as much as we can in between through out the day. Honestly, everyday looks different and we try our best to get as much done as we can.
We are usually in contact with each other all day, chatting while driving via bluetooth planning and strategizing.
What has been the most rewarding part of running your business?
Uplifting others and creating a positive impact in our community. Knowing that someone said YES to themselves by setting time aside and attending our WOMOM events. By doing so they are able to prioritize their wellness, be present and be surrounded by likeminded individuals.
The biggest reward would be seeing the magic of networking, and women empowering each other.
What challenges have you faced balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship, and how do you handle them?
We both agree that time management has been our biggest stressor. There is never enough time in a day, especially being a mother juggling many roles. Balancing creating content and planning events alongside our children’s schedule limits how much time we have each day to work together.
We have found that making a schedule for our social media keeps us on track, organized, and accountable. Planning our events a month in advanced and regrouping at the end of the day once the kids are in bed gives us a little time to close things out mentally.
No day or week is perfect, but having a good understanding about our partnership needs for that day helps us accomplish our goals. Somedays one of us can only give only 10%, and other days 110%, but having each other’s back is how we balance each other out.
We are thankful that being mompreneurs gives us the freedom and flexible to make changes in our daily schedules to prioritize our family.
What advice would you give to other moms thinking about starting their own business?
Don’t let fear stop you. It can be scary and uncomfortable, but the first step is getting started. Trust the process and continue to build your confidence by not being so hard on yourself.
A positive mindset and attitude is so important, and if you don’t believe in yourself, how will others? Your vibe attracts your tribe! You got this!
How do you and your family like to spend time together when you're not working?
Val: We go on hikes, vacations, and movie nights. Spend time with family. But really, it’s the simple moments like a slow morning what we truly cherish.
Lailani: When my husband and I are not working we are cooking yummy meals, taking our daughter to the movies, or working out together. We go down to San Diego about 2 times a year to visit my family, and Disneyland has become a yearly tradition.
