Parent-to-Parent Review: Our First Summer Camp at Modesto Academy of Music and Design
As a mom, sending your child to summer camp for the first time can bring just as many emotions for you as it does for them.
My son recently attended the Pre-Engineering LEGO® I summer camp (ages 6–9) at Modesto Academy of Music and Design, and the excitement started long before the first day. In the days leading up to camp, he kept asking me, "Will I make friends? Will I know anyone from school?" He was equal parts nervous and excited.
The morning of camp, he surprised me by waking up early, getting himself ready, and counting down the minutes until it was time to leave. As soon as we arrived, those nerves quickly turned into excitement. When the other kids started arriving, he couldn't wait to meet them and get building.
One of my favorite parts of the day came at pickup. Parents were invited into the classroom to see what the campers had been working on. Watching my son eagerly show me his creation, explain how he built it, and proudly share everything he learned absolutely melted my mama heart. Seeing his confidence grow in just one day was such a rewarding moment.
What I also love about Modesto Academy of Music and Design is the variety of opportunities they offer families throughout the year. Beyond summer camps, they have year-round classes in music, robotics, art, and computers for children ranging from 18 months through the teen years.
